Clinical governance

Trust & safety

Parent Sense is used by families at a vulnerable time. This page explains who is clinically accountable, how we manage risk, how aiah, our expert AI assistant, is kept safe, and where the app's limits are.

Our Clinical Safety Officer

Meg Faure is our Clinical Safety Officer. She is a registered Occupational Therapist, registration number OT095738 with the HCPC, and holds responsibility for clinical risk management across the Parent Sense platform.

If you have a concern about the clinical safety of anything in our app or content, contact us directly at clinicalsafety@parentsense.app. We log every report, review it clinically, and come back to you.

How we manage clinical risk

We operate a documented clinical risk management process for the Parent Sense platform, aligned to DCB0129, the NHS standard for clinical risk management in health IT.

In practice that means:

  • We maintain a hazard log, which records anything that could foreseeably cause harm and what we do to prevent it.
  • We clinically risk-assess new and changed features before they are released.
  • We maintain a clinical safety case, reviewed whenever the product changes materially and at least once a year.
  • Our Clinical Safety Officer signs off that work.

If you believe something in our app has caused or could cause harm, please tell us at clinicalsafety@parentsense.app. You can read more on our approach to clinical safety page.

Our certifications

Our footer carries the badges for the two independent certifications below. Both link back to this section.

ORCHA Bronze assurance

Parent Sense has been independently assessed by ORCHA Health Limited against the ORCHA Baseline Review (OBR v6.0.0), achieving Bronze assurance. The review covers data and privacy, usability and accessibility, and professional assurance.

Reviewed 17 August 2026.

Cyber Essentials certified

Sense-IT Limited is certified against the UK government's Cyber Essentials scheme, independently assessed by Secarma and issued through IASME. The certification covers the whole organisation.

How aiah works, and how we keep it safe

aiah is our expert AI assistant in the Parent Sense app. You can ask it questions in your own words and it answers using our content library, which is written and reviewed by qualified health professionals.

aiah is built on artificial intelligence. It is not a person and it is not a health professional. It provides general information and guidance about pregnancy, infant and toddler care. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition, and it is not a substitute for advice from your midwife, health visitor, GP or paediatrician.

How aiah is designed to be safe

  • aiah answers from our curated content library in preference to general knowledge.
  • Safety guardrails stop aiah answering certain categories of question and direct you to a health professional or emergency service instead. Our clinical team sets those categories and reviews them.

How aiah is monitored

  • Human in the Loop monitoring is carried out by people, not software. Our clinical team reviews a sample of conversations weekly to check that answers are accurate, safe and consistent with our content.
  • You can give a questionable answer a thumbs down, which raises the question to our team to be reviewed under our Human in the Loop strategy.
  • Where a review finds a problem, it is logged, corrected in the underlying content or the guardrails, and recorded. Inaccuracies reported by parents are reviewed the same way.
  • We review our content against current guidance in each country we operate in at least annually, and whenever that guidance changes.
  • Significant changes to aiah are clinically risk-assessed before release.

What we do not do

We do not monitor, score or profile your conversations. No automated process reads your messages looking for risk, and no decision about you is made automatically. You are responsible to reach out for human help if you need help.

Human review, and what it is not

aiah's responses are generated automatically and no person approves them before you receive them. Some conversations are reviewed afterwards by our clinical team, as described above. This is quality and safety review, not monitoring. Nobody is watching your conversations as you have them, and aiah is not an emergency service. Our privacy policy explains how we handle conversations that are reviewed.

If an aiah answer looks wrong or unsafe, tell us at clinicalsafety@parentsense.app.

What Parent Sense can and cannot do

Parent Sense helps you understand your baby's routine, track sleep, feeding, weight and development, and find guidance written by qualified health professionals.

There are things it cannot do, and we would rather be clear about them.

  • aiah can be wrong. It can be incomplete or out of date, and it can sound more certain than it should. Treat it as a starting point, not an answer.
  • It is not a substitute for your midwife, health visitor, GP or paediatrician.
  • Our guidance may differ from advice you have been given locally. If it does, follow the local professional.
  • Tracking milestones is not developmental screening. It does not detect or rule out any condition, and a tracker that looks reassuring should never stop you raising a concern.
  • Tracking can increase worry for some parents. If you notice that, use less of it and speak to your health professional.

Parent Sense is not for emergencies.

If you think you or your child may be seriously unwell, call 999 in Jersey and the UK, 112 in the EU, 10177 in South Africa, or your local emergency number.
