We may collect and process the following categories of personal data about you:
Identity Data: full name, username, date of birth, age, gender, work status, occupation, and the country you select when you register.
Contact Data: postal address, email address and telephone number.
Special Categories of Personal Data: pregnancy data (due date, doctor’s visits, weight, blood pressure, fetal heart rate, breastfeeding data); your baby’s data (date of birth, name, weight, developmental milestones, sleep habits, feeding data, vaccination data); health data; and other parenting data.
Your conversations with aiah
Your conversations with aiah are stored without your user identity attached, so a conversation cannot be traced back to you. We do not train or fine-tune any AI model on your conversations. Where you mark a response as unhelpful, we may review that response so that we can correct or improve the content behind it.
Marketing and Communication Data: your preferences for receiving communications from us.
Browser Data: your public IP address, browsing behaviour and history (including cookies).
Please do not send us sensitive data we have not asked for, such as social security numbers, racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religion, biometrics or genetic data.
Cookies
We use cookies to keep the Site working properly, to understand your preferences and to compile aggregate data about Site traffic. We do not use cookies for advertising and we do not track advertisement performance. Cookies that are not strictly necessary are only set where you have given your consent, and you can change or withdraw that consent at any time.
HOW AND WHEN WE COLLECT YOUR DATA
We collect your data when you register for an account, download or use our app, or engage with the aiah chatbot. Special Category Personal Data is provided by you directly with your consent when using app features. We may also collect data via email correspondence, telephone calls or social media where you contact us.
When you access our Site, we may collect Browser Data through cookies and similar technologies.
HOW WE USE YOUR DATA
We process your personal data for the purposes set out below. For each purpose we have also set out the lawful basis we rely on under the DPJL.
To provide the Parent Sense App, your account and the associated services. Lawful basis: performance of our contract with you.
To maintain and improve the aiah chatbot and the content behind it, including reviewing responses you have marked as unhelpful. Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in providing an accurate and safe service. We do not train any AI model on your conversations.
To send you service communications such as password resets, verification messages and notices of changes to our terms. Lawful basis: performance of our contract with you, and compliance with a legal obligation where applicable.
To send you personalised content, in-app messages and health nudges matched to your pregnancy stage or your child’s age. Lawful basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time at https://parentsense.app/notification-update/ or in the app’s notification settings.
To report anonymised and aggregated engagement data to Digital Jersey / Impact Jersey and the Government of Jersey, as described below.
Lawful basis for the reporting described above: our legitimate interests, and those of Digital Jersey and the Government of Jersey, in evaluating and improving a publicly funded programme. The information reported is anonymous and grouped, and contains no personal data.
Where necessary for our legitimate interests, provided your interests and fundamental rights do not override those interests.
Where necessary to comply with a legal or regulatory obligation.
Where necessary for legal proceedings or to establish, exercise or defend legal rights.
Special categories of personal data
Pregnancy data, your baby’s health and development data, feeding and sleep data, vaccination records and other health data are special categories of personal data under the DPJL. We process this data only on the basis of your explicit consent, which you give when you choose to use these features of the app, and only for the purpose of providing the app and its guidance to you. You can withdraw your consent at any time by deleting the relevant profile or your account, or by contacting us. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that has already taken place.
DATA SHARING WITH DIGITAL JERSEY / IMPACT JERSEY
Sense-IT Limited has entered into a Grant Agreement with Digital Jersey Limited (trading as Impact Jersey), funded by the Government of Jersey, to make the Parent Sense App available free of charge to Jersey families from pregnancy to age five.
Anonymised Data Set
During the programme, we will produce and share with Digital Jersey a curated, anonymised and aggregated population-level dataset (the “Data Set”) derived from engagement by Jersey-based users.
The Data Set includes:
Anonymised engagement metrics: app usage frequency, feature engagement rates, content interaction patterns and session data, all stripped of personal identifiers.
The Data Set will NOT contain:
Any personal data, or any information from which you could be identified, directly or indirectly.
Any raw user-level data.
The Parent Sense platform, AI models, algorithms or proprietary methodologies.
The Data Set is shared with Digital Jersey no more frequently than once per calendar month by password-protected file transfer. It contributes to Digital Jersey’s Knowledge Base for public health and digital ecosystem purposes.
Sense-IT’s Retained Rights
Sense-IT Limited retains an unrestricted, perpetual right to use anonymised and aggregated engagement data (including the Data Set) generated from the Jersey programme to improve, develop and train the Parent Sense platform and its AI models globally. This is not affected by the Data Set being delivered to Digital Jersey.
Safeguarding Reporting
We may report to Digital Jersey any aggregate patterns (not individual user data) that indicate a material population-level safeguarding concern. This is reported within our quarterly reporting cycle. No personal data or information identifying individual users is shared in this context.
WHO WE SHARE YOUR DATA WITH
We may share your personal data with the following categories of recipients:
Digital Jersey Limited (trading as Impact Jersey) and the Government of Jersey: in the form of the anonymised Data Set described above. No personal data is included.
Third-party data processors: such as IT service providers and cloud computing services, including Amazon Web Services, which hosts the large language model behind aiah through Amazon Bedrock. These parties process your data only on our instructions and in accordance with applicable law.
Professional advisers: including lawyers, auditors and insurers, where necessary.
Regulatory or judicial authorities: on request and to the extent required by law.
Prospective buyers of our business: in the event of a sale or merger, personal data may be transferred to the new owners under equivalent protections.
INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS
Sense-IT is a Jersey company and your data is primarily processed in Jersey. The large language model behind aiah is hosted within the European Union and we retain sovereignty over that data. Where any of our other service providers process data outside Jersey and the EEA, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as standard contractual clauses or adequacy decisions.
DATA SECURITY
We have put in place appropriate security measures, including encryption, to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way. Access to your personal data is limited to those who have a legitimate need.
We have procedures in place to deal with any suspected personal data breach and will notify you and the JOIC of a breach where required by law.
If you become aware of any actual or suspected breach in the security of your personal data, please immediately notify us at [email protected].
DATA RETENTION
We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected and to satisfy legal, accounting or reporting requirements.
Personal data relating to your account is retained until you close your account, or for as long as required by applicable law. When you delete your account and data in the app, the data is removed from our live systems immediately.
In some circumstances we anonymise your personal data for analysis or research purposes, in which case we may use that information indefinitely without further notice.
Records relating to the Digital Jersey programme will be retained for a minimum of ten (10) years from the end of the grant period, as required under the terms of our Grant Agreement with Digital Jersey.
CHILDREN’S DATA
The app holds information about your child, including their name, date of birth, weight, developmental milestones, sleep and feeding patterns and vaccination records. This is your child’s personal data and your child is a data subject in their own right, with the same rights set out below.
You provide and manage that information as your child’s parent, guardian or caregiver, and you exercise your child’s rights on their behalf while they are too young to do so themselves. You can view, correct or delete your child’s data at any time in the app, and you can remove a child profile entirely without closing your own account.
Where you give another adult access to your child’s profile, for example a partner, grandparent or nanny, that person will be able to see and add to the information held about your child. You control who has access and you can remove it at any time.
We do not use children’s data for advertising or marketing, and we do not sell it.
AUTOMATED DECISION-MAKING AND PROFILING
We do not make any decisions about you by automated means that have legal effects or that otherwise significantly affect you. Your eligibility for the Jersey Programme is not decided by an automated assessment; it follows from the country you select when you register.
We do match content to your pregnancy stage or your child’s age so that what you see is relevant to you. This is a limited form of profiling and you can stop it at any time by turning off personalised content and notifications.
aiah generates its responses automatically. Those responses are guidance only, are not reviewed by a person in real time, and are not decisions about you.
MARKETING AND ANALYTICS
We use Google Analytics and similar tools to understand how users interact with our Site and to improve our services. These tools use cookies and may collect your public IP address and browsing behaviour, and are only used where you have consented to non-essential cookies. We do not use your personal data for advertising and we do not sell your personal data. You can opt out of our marketing and content emails at any time at https://parentsense.app/notification-update/, or in the app’s notification settings.
YOUR RIGHTS UNDER JERSEY DATA PROTECTION LAW
Under the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:
Right of access: to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Right to rectification: to request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
Right to erasure: to request deletion of your personal data where there is no longer a legitimate reason to retain it.

Right to restriction: to request that we restrict processing of your personal data in certain circumstances.
Right to portability: to request your personal data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within four weeks. You may also lodge a complaint with the JOIC at any time.
