A few frequently asked questions:

Once your baby is born, click on the “Capture my baby’s birth” button on the pregnancy screen to add your baby. This will remove the trial baby from your profile and activate your new baby’s profile. You will need a subscription to access full functionality.
You cannot delete a baby from the app but we can do it for you. Please email us on [email protected] and we will delete the profile. You won’t need to pay for a new subscription to add a new baby if your subscription is active.
You can add up to three babies born on the SAME day and each baby will have their own profile. If you have quadruplets – wow! Contact us and we will give you another profile for free.

Have a new baby? Congratulations! We are so happy to be on this journey with you once again. To do this:

  1. Click on the More hamburger menu on the bottom right of the home screen
  2. Click on your name at the top of the screen to open the screen to edit your profile.
  3. Click on YOUR name at the top of the next screen.
  4. Click on ‘Add another baby’ and enter your new baby’s details.

With Parent Sense, you can guide your twins towards the same routine but if they are on different schedules, you can work with a daily routine specific to them.

  1. To do this:
Click on your baby’s name, top left icon on top navigation.
A dropdown will appear with your other babies’ names.
  2. Click on the baby who’s routine you want to see.
This feature is definitely on our radar and will be released as soon as we can, hopefully in 2022.

Yes, Parent Sense can be used to help you care for a premature baby. Until your baby reaches his/her expected birth date, the app will deliver content for premature babies.

The app calculates the approximate adjusted age and delivers content according to this. As your baby gets older, the algorithm decreases the number of weeks between actual age and corrected age.

There will be greater variability in routines and milestones with prem babies because some prem babies catch up quicker than others.

Please use your judgment and follow your doctor or healthcare advisor’s guidance.

If the sleep starts 30+ minutes before the feed, opt for the SLEEP and feed when the baby wakes.

If the sleep starts less than 30 minutes before the feed, opt to FEED. Feed early and then put your baby down for a sleep.

The morning waking time determines many of the feed and sleep times through the day. Most babies wake between 5 and 7am for the day. Waking earlier or later than this will fundamentally change how many feeds and sleeps are needed in the daytime.

In addition, for healthy night sleep habits your baby should optimally wake in this period (between 5 and 7am). Using the suggested day feed and sleep times as well as the bedtime will help your baby to sleep better at night.

Should you wish to use a later morning wake time than 7am, you will need to mentally add on the period to the day sleeps and feeds to generate an appropriate suggested routine.

.

There are two ways to see your baby’s daily routine – one the home dashboard and on the routine screen:

  1. On the home dashboard, under ‘Routine’ you will see a table which indicates what the next three items are for the day.
  2. If you want to see the full routine, click on the heart logo at the bottom of the screen.

The routine for the day adjusts based on the time your baby woke in the morning.

At this stage, the sleep tracking through the day does not alter the sleep times in the day but this feature will be available soon.

The app uses a science-based baby routine as the basis of your baby’s routine, based on well researched sleep and feeding norms for that age, feeding method and prematurity. Following this routine also helps you to keep track of your baby’s day but tracking customizes the routine to your baby.

Always log a feed if your baby breastfeeds for more than 2 minutes and if they drink half a bottle or more. Always log a sleep if it lasts more than 15 minutes.

  1. Navigate to the routine screen by clicking on the heart logo in the center bottom of the screen.
  2. Navigate to tracked data by clicking on the top middle button ‘Tracked.’
  3. Find the track you wish to delete or edit, and click on the pencil on the far right. This will open an edit screen where you can edit time and duration
  1. Click on the Health tile on the home screen.
  2. Click Weight on the top left.
  3. Click Update weight and log the new weight with the date you weighed your baby.
  1. Click on the Health tile on the home screen.
  2. Click Weight on the top left.
  3. Click Weight history button and then click on the edit pencil
  4. Log the revised weight and date you weighed your baby.
  1. Click on the Play tile on the home screen. In the middle of the page, click on your baby’s milestone’s (the pink bar).
  2. Tick the box to indicate your baby has achieved a milestone.
  3. Insert the date the milestone was achieved.

The app will log how old your baby was when the milestone was achieved.

Should you wish to ‘unlog’ the milestone, tick the box again and you will be prompted to delete the log.

The suggested ages for milestones are wide bands in which the average baby may achieve the milestone. Remember all babies are different and your baby will achieve the milestones at his/her own pace.

If your baby has a cluster of milestones that are much later than expected, speak to your healthcare advisor.

In general we do not wake babies because sleep is so important.

Don’t wake your baby unless the app prompts you to do so, which may be recommended if your newborn is waking more at night than in the day (day-night reversal).

For the late afternoon nap, we do recommend waking your baby if they sleep too close to bedtime as this can affect how easily your baby goes down at night.

To track your baby’s sleep, click on the dark grey + at the top right of the Home dashboard OR next to the suggested sleep on the home dashboard.

This will open a sleep logger. You can either start tracking the sleep from that moment OR you can put in the start and end times of the last sleep.

Once you start tracking a sleep’s time, a bar at the top of the home dashboard will appear, which will tell you how long your baby has been sleeping.

To stop the recording, either click the word stop on the top bar OR Click the dark grey + button and click the stop button on the pop-up.

If you forgot to start the tracker, click on the dark grey + at the top right of the Home dashboard.

This will open a sleep logger. Put in the start time of the sleep and make the end time the current time and click Save.

Then open the sleep logger again and click the start button to start recording – this will start tracking the current sleep and when the sleep ends you can stop recording.

Try to log the sleep from the time your baby fell asleep, as you won’t be in the room that entire time and your baby may fall asleep with you out of the room. Log it from the time your baby is quiet or the approximate time of falling asleep.

We are working on this.

We currently only provide vaccination information for a limited number of countries. These are South Africa, United Kingdom, United States and Australia. Your app vaccination information will default to the United States if you are not in one of these regions. It is your responsibility to ensure that you obtain the correct vaccination information for your child and in terms of your country’s healthcare department’s advice.

If you take a lifetime subscription, then you will always have access to your baby’s content. But if you are on a monthly or quarterly or annual subscription your access ends when your subscription ends.

You may cancel your subscription at any time. You need to log into your App Store account to cancel the subscription.

If you cancel your subscription at least 5 business days prior to your next billing cycle, you will not be charged at the next billing cycle and you will continue to have access to the app until the end of your current billing period.

If you cancel your subscription within 5 business days prior to your next billing cycle, you will be charged at your next billing cycle and you will continue to have access to the app until the end of your next billing period.

If you would like to change your plan, you will first need to cancel your current subscription on the app store or on your device. Once your current plan expires, you will be prompted to re-subscribe.

The Freemium functionality allows you to ‘test-drive’ the basic functionality of the app. You will get to know your baby’s awake time and the benefit of knowing your baby’s routine. If you are looking for a view of your baby’s entire day, sleep advice, feeding meal plans and stimulation ideas, and more, you can choose from one of our affordable subscription packages.

Unfortunately we don’t currently offer refunds or credits to any partial billing periods and payments are non-refundable.
Can I purchase the books through the app?

You are able to purchase the eBook version of certain books via an in-app purchase. Once you have purchased the book or a chapter of a book, this will be available in the app even if you do not have an active subscription.

Your subscription remains valid and accessible from any of your devices, as long as you are logged in to your existing App store account.

The app is available for both Apple and Android devices.

The app currently works on Apple devices on iOS version 12.3 or newer, and on Android devices running Android 8.0 Oreo or newer.

Navigate to the course page by clicking on the Courses Icon (►) on the bottom Menu Bar.

Some of the past courses allowed access for a limited time only so this may be the reason why the course is not showing. It may also be that you have signed up for previous courses with a username and password which is different to the one you use for the Parent Sense App. Please contact our support team at [email protected] for assistance in linking your course content to your Parent Sense App.

Please use the Forgot Password button to retrieve or reset your password. It is important to note that the course access password is stored separately to the app password. This means that your password to access courses will not automatically update if you update your app password and vice versa. You will need to update both passwords if you want to only remember one password to access the app and courses.
