Your baby needs certain nutrition in the first year of life that is not available in cow’s milk. For this reason a baby should not drink cows milk before a year of age. For the first year, breast or formula milk in addition to solid food – introduced between 4 and 6 months of age – is best. By one year your baby should be having three solid meals including protein and dairy or soya. He will only be having two bottles a day (one in the morning and one in the evening).

From one year old, you can introduce cows milk if your baby has been on a cows milk based formula and showed no allergies to dairy products. If your baby has been on a soya-based formula due to lactose intolerance, move him onto soya milk at one year of age.
